The Sunshine Factor and Vitamin D

Sunshine! yes sunshine is once again attracting a lot of attention in the fight against Prostate Cancer and its prevention as more information is discovered about the beneficial effects Vitamin D has on the body and in particular the health of the Prostate Gland.

One study revealed that men with higher levels of vitamin D in their blood had a 50% less chance of developing the aggressive forms of Prostate Cancer than those men with lower amounts of this sunshine vitamin. Vitamin D is normally obtained by exposure to the sun. Further experiments indicated that vitamin D does in fact inhibit cell growth.

Because of the bad press sunshine exposure is receiving at the moment, doctors are unwilling to recommend the health benefits gained from this summer time treat even though fifteen minutes is all that is required for the body to produce the required amount.

Evolution has configured the white-skin pigmentation to be able to manufacture enough Vitamin D from the limited sunlight available in northern climates, but no so for dark-skinned individuals. If you are dark skinned and live in the northern temperate climate regions, then I would strongly recommend that you supplement with vitamin D. Or at the very least get your vitamin D levels checked to prevent future prostate  problems.

I will finish this article as I normally do by banging on about the positive benefits that massage can have on your prostate. And I don’t mean the invasive internal type either. Just a simple piece of non medical kit that you sit on, fully clothed, is all you need. I really do think that every man over the age of 45 should have one of these it is that important.
